Ingram’s Tree Service • May 12, 2023

If you’re planning on clearing a commercial lot before construction, you’ll want to entrust the job to a company that specializes in this type of work. At Ingram’s Tree Service, we provide expert commercial lot clearing in the greater High Point, NC area. From trees to shrubs to stumps, we’ll meticulously clear it all away so you can get to work on your commercial construction endeavor. Here’s a look at three of our commercial land clearing services in High Point.

Commercial Property Tree Removal

On commercial lots that have many tall trees, it’s important that the removal process is done by experienced arborists who have the skillset to safely cut them down. And if your landscaping design calls for any trees to remain standing on the property, then we’ll be sure to carefully follow your guidelines on that.

Commercial Stump Removal & Grinding

After we cut down trees on your commercial lot, we can thoroughly grind down their stumps to prepare the grounds for construction. We can also grind down any old stumps that are remnants of trees that have already fallen down. Once we’re through with the stump grinding, we’ll be sure to thoroughly clean up after ourselves, hauling out all tree debris so that you have a clean slate to work with.

Commercial Property Shrub & Brush Removal

Our crew also knows how to thoroughly and efficiently remove shrubs and brush. Even though we’re arborists, we also specialize in removing lower-growing plants as part of the construction prep process. And if there are any shrubs that you want to retain as landscape features, we’ll make sure we leave them unharmed.

When trees are in healthy condition, they make major contributions to the environment, as well as to a property’s aesthetics. But diseased trees can be at great risk of toppling over, especially in high winds, potentially causing property damage and injuries. At Ingram’s Tree Service, our local arborists can accurately identify diseased trees. Then, we can determine whether they can be saved or if they need to be safely removed. Here’s a look at five signs that a tree has a disease. Leaf Abnormalities Look out for discoloration, spotting, or premature wilting. Leaves may turn yellow, brown, or develop unusual patterns. Also, if you notice stunted or deformed growth in leaves, it could signal an underlying issue. Keep an eye on the overall vitality of the canopy—a healthy tree should have vibrant, lush foliage. Bark Problems The bark serves as the protective outer layer of a tree, and abnormalities in its appearance can indicate trouble. Watch for cracks, splits, or peeling bark, as these can be signs of disease or pest infestation. Some diseases cause lesions or cankers on the bark. Healthy bark should be intact and uniform in color. Unusual Growth Patterns Sudden changes in growth patterns—such as excessive branching, sparse foliage, or dieback—could be red flags. Also, the presence of abnormal growths like fungal conks or galls may indicate an underlying disease. Any deviations from the tree’s typical growth behavior should be brought to the arborist's attention. Root Issues The health of a tree's roots is fundamental to its overall well-being, yet root problems are often overlooked until it's too late. Symptoms of root-related issues include stunted growth, yellowing foliage, and premature leaf drop. In advanced cases, you may notice root rot or decay. Pest Activity Pests and insects are common vectors for tree diseases, and their presence can indicate an underlying problem. Keep an eye out for signs of pest activity, such as chewed leaves or tunnels in the bark. Potential pest infestations should be inspected by the arborist. Trees enhance the aesthetics of your property while also contributing significantly to environmental health. However, to ensure their longevity and vitality, proper maintenance, such as pruning, is important. While some might be tempted to prune their trees themselves, there are compelling reasons to entrust it to professionals. At Ingram’s Tree Service, we provide expert tree pruning in the greater High Point, NC area. Here’s a look at four reasons to have a professional arborist prune your trees. Expertise and Knowledge Professional arborists possess comprehensive knowledge of growth patterns and species-specific requirements. We are trained to assess the health and structural integrity of trees accurately. This expertise enables us to determine the most appropriate pruning techniques for each tree, promoting optimal growth and minimizing the risk of damage. Safety First Tree pruning can be hazardous, especially when dealing with large or overgrown trees. Without the proper equipment, training, and safety protocols, DIY pruning attempts can result in accidents or injuries. Professional arborists are equipped with the necessary tools—such as harnesses, ropes, and chainsaws—to safely maneuver and prune trees at various heights. Also, we adhere to strict safety standards and regulations, minimizing the risk of accidents and helping to ensure the protection of both property and people. Preserving Tree Health Amateur pruning techniques can weaken the tree's structure, disrupt nutrient flow, and make it more susceptible to diseases and pests. Professional arborists employ scientifically proven pruning methods that promote tree health and vitality. By removing dead or diseased branches, improving air circulation, and shaping the canopy, professional arborists enhance the tree's natural defenses and resilience against environmental stressors. Aesthetic Appeal Well-maintained trees can significantly enhance the visual appeal of your landscape. Professional pruning doesn’t just promote the health and safety of trees, it also enhances their aesthetic beauty. Arborists possess an artistic eye for tree shaping and canopy management, ensuring that trees complement the overall landscape design. When a tree is cut down or falls due to natural causes, the remaining stump can linger in your landscape, posing potential challenges. While tree stumps might seem relatively harmless, removing stumps offers numerous benefits that extend beyond mere aesthetics. At Ingram’s Tree Service, our local arborists provide expert stump grinding and removal in the greater High Point, NC area. Here’s a look at five reasons to remove tree stumps from your property. Enhanced Aesthetics A well-maintained lawn and garden contributes significantly to the overall curb appeal of your property. Tree stumps, if left unattended, can be eyesores that detract from the attractiveness of your landscape. By removing them, you can create a more polished appearance, allowing your landscaping to become more aesthetically appealing. Prevent Pest Infestations Tree stumps can become breeding grounds for pests and insects, such as termites, ants, and beetles. These pests may eventually make their way to your home, causing structural damage. By removing tree stumps promptly, you eliminate potential habitats for these unwanted guests and reduce the risk of pest infestations. Eliminate Tripping Hazards Tree stumps pose tripping hazards, especially in areas with high foot traffic. Whether in your backyard or near a pathway, removing tree stumps enhances safety by eliminating this risk of accidents. This is particularly crucial for households with children and elderly individuals. Prevention of Disease Spread Tree stumps left in the ground can become a breeding ground for fungal diseases and pathogens that may affect nearby plants and trees. By removing the stump, you mitigate the risk of these diseases spreading, promoting the well-being of your surrounding plants. Easier Landscaping and Construction Tree stumps can hinder landscaping projects and construction work on your property. Whether you're planning to install a new garden bed or build a patio, removing tree stumps provides a cleaner slate, making these endeavors easier to pursue. Also, it is easier to mow when you don’t have to navigate around stumps. Healthy trees are beautiful additions to our landscapes that provide numerous benefits to the environment. However, there are instances when a tree becomes a potential hazard or to its surroundings, necessitating removal. When a tree is in poor health or is structurally compromised, it’s more likely to topple over in high winds, which could cause injuries and property damage. In such a situation, the tree should be safely removed before it crashes down on its own. At Ingam’s Tree Service, we provide expert tree removal in the greater High Point area. Here are four signs that a tree is a safety hazard and should be removed. Decay and Disease One of the most obvious signs that a tree may need removal is the presence of decay or disease. Fungi, molds, and other pathogens can compromise a tree's structural integrity, making it susceptible to breakage or collapse. If you notice unusual growths, cankers, or a significant portion of dead branches, it's crucial to have the tree inspected by an experienced arborist. Leaning or Unstable Structure A tree that is heavily leaning may indicate instability in its root system or trunk. While some trees naturally lean, sudden changes in tilt or visible root exposure can be red flags. An unstable tree poses a risk of falling, especially during severe weather conditions, making it a potential threat to property and safety. Cracks in Trunk or Major Limbs Visible cracks in a tree's trunk or major limbs are serious concerns. These cracks can weaken the tree's structure and compromise its ability to withstand external forces such as wind or storms. If you observe deep splits or cracks, it's advisable to consult with an arborist to evaluate the extent of the damage and determine if removal is necessary. Hollow or Rotted Areas Internal decay can be challenging to detect, but it's a significant threat to a tree's stability. Hollow or rotted areas in the trunk can compromise the tree's strength, making it more prone to collapse. If you notice cavities or soft, spongy wood when you probe the trunk, it's an indication that decay may be present. The emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis) is a small but devastating green beetle that poses a significant threat to ash trees in North Carolina and elsewhere. Originating from Asia, this invasive species has spread rapidly, causing widespread damage to ash tree populations. Identifying the signs of an emerald ash borer infestation is crucial for early detection and effective management. At Ingram’s Tree Service, our local arborists can identify affected trees and then determine the best course action for the situation. Here are five signs of emerald ash borers. Thinning Canopy In many cases, one of the early signs of an emerald ash borer infestation is a thinning canopy in ash trees. As the larvae tunnel beneath the bark, they disrupt the flow of water and nutrients within the tree, leading to a reduction in foliage. Watch out for branches that appear to be losing leaves or exhibiting premature leaf drop, especially in the upper portions of the tree. D-Shaped Exit Holes Once the adult emerald ash borers emerge from the tree, they leave distinct D-shaped exit holes in the bark. These small, rounded holes are a hallmark of infestation and are typically about 1/8 inch in diameter. Splitting Bark and Epicormic Shoots As emerald ash borers disrupt the nutrient flow within the tree, the bark may split vertically. This can be observed on the trunk and major branches. Also, the stress caused by infestation may prompt the tree to produce epicormic shoots, which are small branches that sprout from the trunk and larger branches in an attempt to compensate for the loss of canopy. Dieback from the Top Down In advanced stages of emerald ash borer infestation, ash trees often exhibit dieback starting from the top and progressing downward. As the beetles continue to damage the tree's vascular system, the overall health of the tree declines, resulting in a gradual loss of branches and foliage. Increased Woodpecker Activity Woodpeckers are predators of emerald ash borers, and heightened woodpecker activity can be a sign of infestation. These birds are attracted to the larvae beneath the bark and will peck holes in an attempt to feed on them. Proper trimming helps to optimize your trees’ health and beauty. When done by professionals, tree trimming is a combination of science, skill, and art. At Ingram’s Tree Service, our local arborists provide expert tree trimming in the greater High Point, NC area. Here’s a look at six benefits of professional tree trimming. Tree Health Professional tree trimming plays a pivotal role in maintaining the health of your trees. Trained arborists can identify and remove dead, diseased, or damaged branches, preventing the spread of disease and promoting healthy growth. Proper trimming also allows for increased sunlight and air circulation through the canopy, reducing the risk of fungal infections. Aesthetic Appeal A properly trimmed tree enhances the overall aesthetics of your property. Trained professionals can shape the tree according to your preferences while ensuring it complements the surrounding landscape. This can increase your property's curb appeal and value. Safety Overgrown branches can pose a significant safety hazard. In storms or high winds, weak or dead branches can fall, potentially causing injuries and property damage. Professional tree trimming ensures that such risks are minimized, making your outdoor space safer for you and your family. Encouraging Growth Proper trimming techniques, such as crown reduction and canopy thinning, can stimulate healthy growth. This encourages new shoots and branches, leading to a more robust tree structure over time. Disease Prevention Trimming helps in identifying and removing diseased branches before the problem spreads throughout the tree. This proactive approach can save the tree from diseases, helping to ensure its long-term survival. Improved Sunlight and Airflow Thinning the canopy allows more sunlight to reach the lower branches and the surrounding landscape. Improved airflow minimizes the risk of moisture accumulation, which can lead to fungal growth and decay. As you likely know, dogwood trees produce North Carolina’s state flower. In our region, dogwoods are greatly loved, and when properly cared for, they can put on breathtaking displays of beauty. At Ingram’s Tree Service, we can help with caring for your dogwoods, and can identify any issues with them. Our local arborists are big fans of dogwoods and love to see them thrive. Here’s a look at some helpful tips for caring for your dogwood trees. Planting Your Dogwood If you’re planting a new dogwood in your yard, you’ll want to take some factors into consideration. Make sure you choose a location that gives the dogwood the right amount of sun. Dogwoods are naturally understory trees and so shouldn’t get maximum sunlight. Rather they should get partial shade with around four hours of direct sun. The day before you plant the dogwood, you should thoroughly soak its roots. You should do this again the next day, just before you plant the dogwood. You’ll want to dig a hole that is three times as wide as the root ball and mix in plenty of organic matter. A general tree fertilizer can be helpful, and should be mixed into the hole. After getting the tree in, you should thoroughly cover the root ball without packing it too tight so that there’s proper drainage. Then you should tie the tree to a stake at two feet above the surface. After that, mulch one foot out from the trunk, all the way around, which will help to protect the roots. Dogwood Care It’ll be important to regularly water your dogwood. But once it’s established, you shouldn’t need to water as often. But for most varieties, you should still water twice per week, and be sure the tree is getting regular water during particularly hot and dry stretches of weather. As for soil, dogwoods prefer loamy and slightly acidic. You can periodically conduct a pH test and then amend the soil if necessary to better suit the dogwood’s needs. When it comes to pruning, dogwoods don’t heal from pruning cuts as easily as most other common trees. So it’s best if pruning is minimized. Dogwoods often grow into beautiful shapes without assistance. Still, if you have any branches that are rubbing against each other, they should be removed so that they don’t open up the bark and invite disease. Dead and broken branches should also be removed.
